Tony Unwin

April 2006
Tony sadly died in April 2006 while waiting for a Heart Transplant at Harefield Hospital, I had the great pleasure of knowing him and his family.

Tony invited me to be a guest speaker at his local Rotary Club, as he was quite ill and possibly heading for a heart transplant at the time he thought that his friends would find my talk very interesting.
In fact his was so ill that he came out of hospital especially for that talk and then went back the next day.

Tony was later admitted to Harefield Hospital and put on the active heart transplant register although he first needed to be stabilised and fit enough to actually have a transplant if one became available. I visited Tony a few times while he was in hospital, both on the ward and in the high dependency unit.
Sadly he didn’t get his chance at transplant, leaving behind his wife and two girls. Tony did a lot of voluntary work and found it difficult to say no to anyone who asked him to do something.

His family very generously asked for donations to our charity rather than flowers, just like a donor family still thinking of others in their time of grief.

We purchased a laser printer with the money that was donated, and now every time we press the print button we think of Tony and his family.

Thank you and God Bless
